On November 1, 1977, several quilting friends formed the Schoolhouse Quilters. Their first official meeting was January 16, 1978, with Jane Patterson serving as President and Betty Fagan serving as Secretary/Treasurer. There were 27 charter members in attendance.
In May of 2003, several of those members gathered at the Gordon Roberts House for tea to celebrate 25 years of Schoolhouse Quilters . Founding members were presented with a silver schoolhouse charm and each shared memories of the early days of the Quilt Guild.
